MY PLANT COLLECTION

AFRICAN VIOLETS

  • Victorian Flirt
Charlotte gave me leaves off her african violets sometime in the late nineties and they easily spouted. In 2005, I began collecting in earnest when I realized that purchasing leaves were cheap (a lot cheaper than orchids!) and that propagation was easy. I don't pay as much attention to them as I should but appreciate their wonderful blooms.

AROIDS

  • Anthurium Tropic Ice
    anthuriums, philodendron, alocasia etc.

BEGONIAS

  • Begonia Green Velvet
a colorful array of leaves that will make you go "wow!"

CARNIVOROUS

  • N. Medusa- upper pitchers
they eat bugs! How cool is that?

FERNS

  • Pteris_quadriaurita
I'm lazy when it comes to watering so I had lost quite a few of these...but I'm getting better and don't kill them anymore. They are simply put in larger pots or planted directly into the ground of the casita.

HAWORTHIA-GASTERIA

  • Haworthia
Haworthia is a genus of flowering plants within the family Asphodelaceae. They are small (typically 20 cm high) solitary or clump-forming and endemic to South Africa. Gasteria is a genus of succulent plants native to South Africa. Closely-related genera include Aloe and Haworthia. The genus is named for its stomach-shaped flowers and is part of an expanded Asphodelaceae family.

HOYA-PEPEROMIA

  • Hoya tsangii
Peperomia (radiator plant) is one of the 2 large genera of the Piperaceae family, with more than 1000 recorded species. Hoya is a genus of 200-300 species of tropical climbing plants in the family Apocynaceae (Dogbane), native to southern Asia (India east to southern China and southward), Australia, and Polynesia. Common names for this genus are waxplant, waxvine, waxflower or simply hoya.

MORE SUCCULENTS

Thick skinned and usually pokey, I got bit by the cactus bug about 5 years ago.

ORCHIDS

  • Img_3233
I started collecting orchids in 1991 during my junior year in high school. It started with a beautiful lavender and purple cattleya named Bella Simpson (which I killed). My collection has grown quite a bit since then.

STEPELIADS

  • Step.crested
These plants are often referred to as the orchids of the succulent world. Their intricate fleshy flowers often marked and scented like rotting meat, make them all the more intriguing.
