It's odd that just not too long ago, I was going through my stuff and found an old letter from Kay. We had known Kay and Kevin along with their two kids Nikki and Dale for a number of years before they moved to Oahu some 15 years ago. What a treat to spend an evening with them, cousin Kahala who is in our congregation and a few friends from Oahu. Thanks guys, what a treat!
We are getting together at Mike, Maria and Tony's place after this afternoon's meeting for a mexican themed party. However, things are not working out....the gas tank is on empty, we have to go home to pick up some board games and chairs, and I manage to park the van just right so that the door opens near a pile of dog poo which I of course step in (more than once). Once we are finally on the way, we have to turn around to deliver a package we've forgotten about. But all turns out well this voggy afternoon and we get to eat beans and wear Winnie-the-Pooh party hats....yes, very Mexican. I've prepared my version of Arroz con Pollo which turns out pretty well. My favorites this evening: Tracy's Carne de Res con Nopales (Seasoned Shredded Beef and Cactus) and Reina's flan!
Waaaaahhhhh! My stoopid phone was acting up again over the new years and I didn't receive John's call, invitating me to go and play in the snow up on Mauna Kea. Snif! But here are some of John and Bobby's photos. Here's proof that you really CAN enjoy not only a warm sandy beach, but a good old-fashioned snowball fight in paradise.
The Waiakea KH dedication program is this afternoon and we are priveleged to have Brother G. Jackson of the GB to give the discourse. Friday and Saturday morning is spent with preparation, cooking, cleaning, baking, flower arranging, setting up chairs etc and Saturday afternoon and evening is the program itself. Brother and Sister Jackson will also be at our Sunday meeting. More pics to come later! Thanks to all of the hard working friends who made this weekend memorable!
