For those of you that didn't know, I've turned in my trusty old 2000 Corolla for a new one. Just for fun, we spun by the dealer today where it was on display for the unwary buyer. (That's just Josh and Phil pretending to be interested.)
What's really something is that the saleman (who had no idea that it was me who turned it in just a week ago) went on and on about how the previous owner had babied the car, and that it was in great condition.
We all laughed to ourselves because you all know that it was taken to the far reaches of our territory, was packed regularly with five full-sized adults, had coffee stains on the seats, was taken over washed out roads in the middle of nowhere etc, etc. It was leaking oil like crazy, had suspension and alignment issues, needed its tires topped up with air every few weeks, had it's air filter assembly held up by tape...a great pioneer car of course, but one that had begun to make its final downhill slide at 135000 miles.
What's even more incredible is that these clowns are attempting to sell it at the "clearance price" of $6,000. A truly miraculous rise in value from the $800 they paid me for it. I sorta miss the car. Then again, I really like my new one.
Yes it's a Corolla. Yes, it was part of the recall. Yes, the problem's been fixed. Yes, it drives fine. (so far) And yes, smarty, this is my 4th "Armageddon Car."
