It all began quite innocently; just a relaxing afternoon at a local garden center after a nice morning in field service. I recently relocated an unused outdoor fountain into my bedroom and was searching for a nice trailing plant to place inside the tub.
Then, without any warning, out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of a tabletop display of orchid plants. On closer inspection, I found (to the glee of my orchidiotic alter ego) that the table held not a bunch of plants but one, big, humongous, overgrown specimen! It measured nearly 4 feet across and had about 14 spikes of flowers, and it was only a little more than twice the price of orchids in 5 inch pots on a nearby table so I did what any respectable orchidiot would do: bought it and decided to find room for it later. By the way, do you know how hard it is to be discreet with something this obscenely big? It took two of us to squish it into my Corolla and I drove home seated all the way against the door with 2 spikes poking me in the face. It was soooo worth it!
So tell me: what's your obsession? Have you ever spent money on something that you felt was totally worth it even though the majority of people probably thought you were nuts?
